Classic steam bent Vienna Secessionist leather seated chair made in Czechoslovakia, by J.J. Kohn & Mundus, circa 1900/1920's.
Mundus was a furniture manufacturer active throughout the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The company was known for its innovative use of bentwood, a technique it helped to pioneer. In 1914, Mundus merged with J. & J. Kohn, and later, in 1922, became part of Gebrüder Thonet. Following this second merger, the combined entity continued producing furniture under the Thonet name.
These particular chairs date from before the merger with Thonet and has the original marking on the base of the seat - an embossed stamp and the original label.
The chair has a black leather seat and back with individual gunmetal studs. It is in very good, clean, ready to use condition, showing only light cosmetic wear on the wood and leather, this is normal and consistent with age.
Ideal as an occasional chair, compact and stylish would work well in any room.

I am a fully trained upholsterer and the chair fully complies with current UK fire regulations - all fillings and covers are FR treated, it has been given a batch number. I have reupholstered using rubberised hair, hessian.
All of our furniture is refurbished or original vintage.
We work very hard to ensure that our items are in the best condition possible. The item has been hand crafted back to life - it will not be in factory new condition.

The cost quoted for delivery is for mainland UK and is an estimate, PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE PAYING with your postcode and an accurate cost can be given.
(As an idea delivery to UK mainland is on average £65) Due to the nature of the item, shipment cost will alter with distance.
Please feel free to organise your own delivery - companies such as Anyvan, Shiply, Parcel2go or parcelmonkey and can equally provide a reasonable price. Very simple to use and I have been told that they provide a good service.
(At the moment our delivery driver, will unload your item/s & deliver to the ground floor entrance of your property. Please be ready to take the piece from there onwards)
We do not offer European or Worldwide delivery, feel free to arrange yourself from E4. Please advise and I will adjust listing.
We wrap our items with recycled packaging, it might not look pretty but it certainly does the job of protecting the items.
We're always creating and adding new pieces — our stock is unique and once it’s gone, it’s gone!
